The Catamount Trail Association hosts youth learn-to-ski nordic programs in communities throughout Vermont. Our programming uses nordic skiing as a means to promote healthy lifestyles, increase engagement with nature, and promote access to outdoor activities in the winter. All CTA youth programs are provided at no-cost to participants, so that everyone can enjoy positive outdoor experiences. We also believe that multi-week programs are crucial for achieving this goal by providing repetitive opportunities for youth to get outdoors, learn, and practice new skills. We hope that students will develop a lifelong affinity for outdoor recreation and natural areas after participating in our programs, continuing to ski with friends, family, and community members for many years to come.
The CTA Youth Programs include Ski Cubs and School Programs.
Our flagship program, Ski Cubs, collaborates with schools and local organizations in the greater Burlington area to serve participants with limited resources or limited access to winter sports opportunities. We work with many New American students to share the joys of Vermont winters and to help create new community connections. Ski Cubs takes place on Saturday mornings at Catamount Outdoor Family Center, see our Ski Cubs program page for more information!
School Programs take place both during the school day and as after-school offerings. These programs allow students to access nordic skiing as a part of both the physical education curriculum and as outdoor learning opportunities. Our school programs provide an opportunity to learn a new skill and get outdoors during the school day in the winter, while encouraging students to explore local trails and natural areas in their community.
