Hello backcountry skiers of the Northeast! It’s that time of year again where we remind you that the Catamount Trail Association is a member supported organization. Everything we do is made possible because of support from people like you who think what we do is great, and don’t mind occasionally parting with some of your hard earned money in order to help ensure that we are able to continue doing what we do.
So what is it exactly that we do?
I’m glad you asked…
Our primary mission is the protection and maintenance of the Catamount Trail–the 300 mile long backcountry ski trail that runs the entire length of Vermont. But, that’s not all. We are also concerned with helping get as many people outside and active during the winter months as possible, and this year that means offering instructional opportunities for backcountry nordic touring, alpine touring, telemark skiing, and even splitboarding! We also offer over 40 free day tours with options for every type of backcountry snow-slider, in addition to multi-day tours in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Lastly, we administer a youth ski program, The Ski Cubs, which serves participants with limited resources and access to winter recreational resources with the hope of instilling in them a lifelong affinity for outdoor recreation and natural areas. I’m sure I’ve left out a few things… but a staff of 4 can only do so much.
This is the part where we ask you for money… So, please consider everything our organization accomplishes and all of the value that add to the backcountry and recreational landscape here in Vermont! Your donation to the Catamount Trail Annual Fund helps cover operating costs, including salaries, office expenses, newsletters, member support services, events and much, much more. You can give as little or as much as you want because every bit helps.
This year as an added incentive to support the good work that we do we have partnered with the Chic-Chac in Murdochville, QC to bring you a pretty incredible opportunity! This year anyone that donates $25 or more to the Catamount Annual Fund before January 1st, 2015 will be considered to win a Cat Skiing Package For 2 in the Chic Choc Mountains!
The Chic-Chac is a hostel located in Murdochville, a small village located in the heart of the Gaspé Peninsula in the middle of the Chic-Choc mountain chain.
Winter in the Gaspé offers snow lovers activities of all kinds including exceptional backcountry powder skiing and snowshoeing, and Murdochville and the Chic-Chac are at the heart of it all!
The Chic-Chac accommodations include:
- Rooms in single, double occupancy, triple or quadruple
- Showers
- High-Speed wireless Internet
- Spa under the stars
- Kitchen
The package includes 2 days of cat skiing, 3 nights lodging, and all of your meals! If you happen to have already given to the Annual Fund… don’t worry. Any Annual Fund Donation made after August 31, 2014 will be counted and eligible to win.
