As charitable donors, when we think about giving to worthy causes, we usually plan it on a yearly basis. On the other hand, there are more and more options to become a “sustaining member” to organizations like your local public radio station, and to start planning your giving in monthly increments rather than yearly sums. Why should you switch from yearly to recurring donations? Here are three reasons:
One, on your end, it’s easy: you don’t need to send a monthly check once you’ve set yourself up as a donor.
Two, you can choose your donation level, from $6 monthly and up.
Three, altogether, it’s a feel-good process for you, the donor, since you will have an impact on the Catamount Trail and our organizational mission every month of the year.
Though we’ve been struggling with a snow drought for the past couple of weeks, it’s not hard to remember those days when you can step out the door, look up at soft flakes falling from a pewter sky and ponder where you want to go for the day. You might want to ski into the Huntington backcountry, or plan a picnic at Lunch Rocks on the Bolton to Trapps Trail, or skin up a powdery glade at Brandon Gap. The common thread to all of these winter-day options, of course, is the Catamount Trail Association. Day in and day out, year-round, whether the trail is covered in powder snow or slush or fallen leaves or spring mud, we at the Catamount Trail Association are engaged with some portion of the 300-plus miles of the trail, whether it’s a group tour over Jay Pass, a glade work day at Mt. Bartlett, or a group of members helping to replace a bridge in Wiessner Woods.
Like great snow, effective giving keeps us going. A good storm cycle that drops inch after inch over Vermont’s high country; meanwhile, a recurring donation keeps us going, mile by mile, month by month. Unlike a one-time or yearly donation, recurring donations allow the CTA to predict its finances more accurately, so we can plan for future trail projects and improvements. In turn, you, the donor get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping protect and maintain a great resource in every month of the year! Consider becoming a recurring donor and help us make the Catamount Trail better all year round.
