A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out this past weekend at our volunteer work weekend in Stowe! For those of you who couldn’t make it, here’s a quick look at what we accomplished:
- Clearing a section of new trail near Sterling Gorge. This will bypass a very wet section of trail
- Re-blazing the new trail section and de-blazing the old section.
- Building bridges over two tiny brooks on the new section of trail.
While the trail work kept us busy, we managed to fit in some fun as well. After our work on Saturday, we returned to Moira and Gar’s house for a dip in their pond and a CTA barbecue.
Chaga, a mushroom that grows on yellow birch trees, was a hot topic over the weekend. June, one of our volunteers, harvested a few from the woods and educated us on the mushroom’s superfood qualities.
Our next trail work weekend will be August 2nd and 3rd. It’s not too late to join in if you’re interested! We’d love to see some new faces in addition to CTA veterans in attendance.
