Keeping the Catamount Trail in good shape is a big project! Every year volunteers pitch in to help maintain 300+ miles of trail. Whether you join us for a day or for a weekend, your involvement goes a long way! Bring a friend, give back to the trails you enjoy, and help ensure that skiers have a great experience on the Catamount Trail.
Summer Trail Work Weekends
Every summer the CTA hosts Volunteer Work Weekends to help complete larger trail projects. Recruit your friends or bring your family to enjoy a weekend in the Vermont woods. Join us for a day or for the whole weekend. The CTA will provide a campsite or lodging with friends of the CTA, and everyone will gather for dinner Saturday evening. For those who prefer more luxurious accommodations, we are happy to recommend local lodging.
Fall Trail Work Days
Join CTA’s Trail Chiefs and other volunteers in our annual effort to clear the Catamount Trail of blow-downs, branches, and brush. Fall trail work days are announced in late summer each year. You’ll need lunch, water, long pants, work gloves, hiking boots, a warm layer, and a pair of loppers or a handsaw. Pack or wear blaze orange as many of these dates occur during hunting season.
