Report
What a great day out on the trail. We arrived early and dropped a shuttle car where the Catamount Trail intersects Nebraska Valley Road, then headed on over to Bolton Valley Resort to start our journey. Things were a little icy early and and it wasn’t long before we stopped to put our skins on for the ascent up to Bryant Camp. On this day the trail was pretty well packed which made progress fairly quick and painless. As the temps rose the snow softened and and the layers came off. This is such a great time to ski!
At Lunch Rocks we took a short break to grab a bite to eat and take in the scenery. This is also the point where most of the climbing is done and you start the long descent to Nebraska Valley Road. The first part of the trail after Lunch Rocks is relatively narrow with some tight twists and turns while descending. It will definitely keep you on your toes! Eventually, the trail opened up into some really nice glades and we were more able to let loose and just enjoy making turns. From here it wasn’t long before we were back at the car.
Overall it was a great day on the trail! Section 22 definitely both physically and technically challenging… but so worth it!
This coming spring in the beginning of March we will be hosting the 1st Annual Catamount Trail Classic. This will be a fundraising tour from Bolton To Trapps to raise money for our youth ski program, the Ski Cubs. We will even shuttle you from Trapps to the start at Bolton and at the finish we will be waiting at the Trapp Brewery with a band, food and refreshments!
Think about it. Till then… Think Snow!
