Last winter, the Catamount Trail’s founders, Steve Bushey, Ben Rose, and Paul Jarris, aimed to ski all 31 sections of the trail over a 35 day period beginning on February 8th and ending on March 14th. The tour was cut short due to trail conditions, ending their tour at Trapp Family Lodge on March 2nd. To see more about their tour last year, check out the Ruby Run Blog.
The Ruby Run Crew plans to ski the last 100 miles from Stowe to Canada in March 2025, and hopefully with an even larger group of skiers joining them along the way!
How To Participate: Want to ski with the Ruby Run Crew? We’d love for you to join us! Whether you’d like to join for a mile, a day, or multiple days, anyone is welcome to join the tour. Please read through the following guidelines before planning your day(s) on the trail:
– The CTA cannot provide support for guest skiers. Unfortunately, the CTA cannot provide transportation, lodging, food, or other logistical support for guest skiers.
– Make sure you’re prepared for the day. As with any tour, please make sure you have the skills and equipment necessary for the section you plan to ski. Read through our recommended equipment and make sure you have everything you need for the day on the trail.
– Plan to bring a friend. Joining the tour with one or two friends will enable you to shuttle cars and will allow your party to be self-sufficient should any issues arrise.
– Let us know you’re coming! Please email Jay Stearns if you plan to join.
What if there is no snow? If there a section isn’t skiable the day the tour plans to ski it, we’ll find another alternative locally. That may mean a shortened ski on the trail, an out and back, skiing at a local nordic center, or even a hike! Regardless of what the weather throws at us, we will keep to the tour schedule won’t go back and ski missed sections. We’ll post updates to the Tour Blog page and to social media.
Support a Skier: Steve, Ben, Paul and friends are using their tour to raise money for the CTA, and to support the organization to permanently protecting the trail and make it more climate resilient through improvements and reroutes. Learn more and support their efforts HERE.
Questions? Please contact Jay Stearns or Matt Williams with any questions about skiing with the Ruby Run Tour. We’re happy to help!
