Here at the Catamount Trail Association we are very fortunate to work with some of the most generous, inspiring and hard working people in the entire state of Vermont. Two of those people are Jim Fredericks and Dagny St. John. For the better part of a decade both Jim and Dagny have worked tirelessly to help push the CTA down the road of success and it is with heavy hearts that we say farewell.
Jim Fredericks
As CTA’s full time Executive Director for 6 years, and then another 9 months as Director of the Race to the Top of Vermont, Jim Fredericks has had a dramatic and positive effect on the health and stability of the Catamount Trail Association. Jim guided the organization into a new era, developing CTA’s special events and the income streams and exposure associated with those events. He worked long and hard (maybe too long and too hard at times), always keeping the best interest of the organization in mind. The North Face Race to the Top of Vermont is now one of the state’s premier events, for which Jim is almost solely responsible. Thank you Jim, for your vision, leadership, and perseverance, which have made the CTA a more robust and sustainable institution. In honor of his tennure at the CTA, Jim received the first CTA poster signed by the artist. We could say goodbye, but we know we will see you and JoAnn on the trail, even if it’s only for a minute as you leave us in your tracks. Be well, think snow, and ski fast!
Dagny St. John.
A member of the CTA since 2001, Dagny St. John is an avid tour participant and host, and a consistent source of positive energy and support for the CTA. Dagny served on the CTA Board of Directors from 2006-2013, most of that time as Secretary. Since its inception in 2008, Dagny has instructed each year at CTA’s Ladies Nordic Ski Expo, and was a Trail Chief for Section 6 near Winhall from 2008-2013. Dagny became a CTA end-to-ender in 2008, but given her participation in our multiday tours year in and year out, we think it is highly likely that she has skied most of the trail 2 or even 3 times. Although she was not able to attend the Annual Meeting, Dagny was presented with a new CTA fleece and a photo collage of some of her trail adventures. Thank you Dagny. We will miss you, and hope to see you on the Trail again soon.
