Starting off in temperatures 20 degrees colder than yesterday, 20 participants in the Northern Week Long Tour tackled section 17 (Bridges Trail) under brilliant blue skies. This rolling section of trail showed evidence of the tremendous clean up work that trail chiefs and volunteers have performed in the days since the heavy snow/rains of late December.
Because of the temperatures, the group kept moving and kept lunch to a little more than the minimum. Taking lunch at a field before crossing South Lincoln Road, whatever chill was felt at lunch went away in the course of the 90 minute climb towards Lincoln Gap.
At Lincoln Gap, aspiring end-to-enders and the more adventuresome skiers climbed the Gap and skied down. The Lincoln Gap Road is in great condition for skiing this year. The road is also has well developed run for sleds, toboggans, and plastic disks of all types, We were all impressed at the speed and enthusiasm of these other self propelled winter sports people.
Tomorrow, we climb Lincoln Gap from the other side of the mountain.
