Today is Giving Tuesday and it’s time to get excited about charitable giving! Giving Tuesday is the Black Friday of the charitable giving season and we want you to get excited about supporting, not only the Catamount Trail Association, but any of the other organizations out there that work hard, and do so much with very little. However, we’d prefer to avoid the trampling, fighting and general collapse of humanity typically associated with events like this. So to help, we created a short list of organizations you might consider supporting this holiday season.
SheJumps’ mission is to get more women to participate in outdoor activities. They organize events and activities for women of all ages with the goal of helping one another reach their highest potential through outdoor adventures and education. What’s not to like?
Do we really need to introduce the Green Mountain Club? As the organization responsible for maintaining the 272 mile Long Trail and the 175 miles of side trails here in Vermont, the GMC has it’s work cut out for it.
If climate change change is a concern of yours then you might want to check out the Kjolur Run. This coming summer Pavel Cenkl, professor and athletic director at Sterling College, is planning a 3 day solo run across Iceland in hopes of drawing attention to the responsibility of outdoor enthusiasts as stewards of our planet.
The Flyin Ryan Foundation strives to EXPOSE adventurers to RyanHawk’s principles for living. To INSPIRE adventurers to craft their own set of core principles for living, and to ACT on their core principles as the means through which they shape their attitude and engage in life.
The Vermont Mountain Bike Association is the voice of mountain biking in Vermont! They work day and night, month after month, to ensure the sustainable future of mountain biking in Vermont and to promote Vermont as the premier riding destination in the Northeast! If you’re into brown pow… you should direct your attention here.
The Catamount Trail Association… who are these guys? All kidding aside, we too could use your help. We have 300 miles of backcountry ski trails to maintain, youth programs to run, tours and instructional events to organize, and so, so much more!
No amount is too small or too large.
Every bit helps…
And everyone could use a little extra help.
This is your opportunity to really make a difference this holiday season by supporting those organizations that work hard to make a difference during the rest of the year.
Giving charitably is good for you. It improves your sense of purpose and self-worth, provides satisfaction, and generally makes you happier. Being happy can do wonders for your health, so don’t miss out!
There are also tax benefits, and if you make a donation of $25 or more to the Catamount Trail Annual Fund before January 1st you might just find yourself enjoying some amazing powder skiing in the Chic-Chocs!
