We Did It!
We are humbled and excited to announce that, thanks to contributions from more than 175 donors over the last 9 months, we’ve hit our Heart of the Trail Campaign goal of 1.3 million!
We couldn’t have done it without you and can’t thank the CTA community enough for so generously supporting the first capital campaign in the CTA’s history. We now have the opportunity to advance trail protection while putting the Catamount Trail, backcountry zones, and our growing programs on secure footing for the next decade.
The Successful Campaign Will Make Our Heart of the Trail Goals Possible:
- Continue our work to fully protect the “Heart of the Trail” from Blueberry Hill to von Trapp Family Lodge and ensure permanent access to some of Vermont’s most treasured mountain landscapes, while bolstering trail protection statewide. We’ve already put campaign money to work and secured a trail easement on Section 15, and five additional trail protection projects are nearing completion!
- Implement trail improvements and high-elevation backcountry zones to make backcountry skiing more climate-resilient and sustainable for generations to come. We have drainage upgrades and other climate resiliency work planned for Section 15 in the Heart of the Trail corridor this summer, which will improve the ski experience north of Blueberry Hill Inn. And a new backcountry zone has been approved for central Vermont – Old Callahan Backcountry Zone in Camel’s Hump State Park is on track to be ready this winter!
- Expand access to skiing and foster the next generation of backcountry skiers in Vermont by investing in the sustainability of our youth and community programs. Our CTA Youth Programs get 2,000 kids from 30 communities across Vermont on Nordic skis each year! We aim to keep growing these opportunities throughout the state, in addition to offering more free community ski days and backcountry clinics to get more folks out on snow during the winter season.
We are excited to move these ambitious goals forward and will continue to share our progress and efforts with the community. Thanks to you, we now have the resources to make Vermont’s backcountry more fun, climate-resilient, and accessible to everyone in the coming years!
