A few brave souls from the midwest made their way to Jay, Vermont last week and have embarked on a self-supported end-to-end ski of the Catamount Trail. They are traveling from north to south and will be sharing some photos and stories from their adventure with us as they go. We caught up on the phone earlier this week and they reported a clear and skiable trail from the Quebec border down to Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Recent snows are softening the trail for them further south, and with our continued snow dances, they’ll have decent coverage for the full extent of their journey.
While they are fully stocked and prepared to winter camp, I’m certain they would appreciate an indoor sleeping space, warm meal, shuttle, or other trail magic you may have to offer if you live on or near the trail. If you’d like to lend these folks a hand as they make their way south, please contact the CTA office and we’ll put you in touch with them.
And stay tuned for more images and words as their journey unfolds.
