Spring is here, and though we’re sad to see the skiing end, there is always a lot to look forward to during the warmer months here in Vermont. The mountain bike trails are opening, hiking in shorts and t-shirts is here, and soon the swimming holes will start being fun again. The warmer weather also means it’s time to start thinking about trail maintenance and improvements along the Catamount Trail.
Every spring and summer an army of volunteers in conjunction with professional trail builders for special projects spend countless hours on the Catamount Trail clearing the corridor, improving drainage, repairing bridges, building new bridges, updating signage, etc… When you are responsible for over 300 miles of trail the work is never done.
And though a lot of the work is accomplished by our amazing volunteers, there are still significant costs. Lumber, tools, and professional help on certain projects all add up. Donations to the CTA Trail Fund is just one of the ways we pay for all of the work that’s required to keep the Catamount Trail is awesome shape.
If you want to help come volunteer on the trail. If you signup for our weekly e-newsletter we will be sharing opportunities as they are available. The other thing you can do to help is Make A Contribution To The CTA Trail Fund!
This year instead of setting a specific monetary goal, we’re hoping to see more people contribute. So, help us reach our goal of 350 individual contributions by June 1st . No amount is too small, or too large. Click the link below to make your contribution today!
