The CTA Chapter program–formerly the Vermont Backcountry Alliance (VTBC)–exists to protect, advance and advocate for human-powered backcountry skiing and snowboarding in Vermont. The goal of this program is to facilitate public access to backcountry terrain while promoting the conservation and responsible management of our mountain environment.

Protecting Vermont’s Mountain Lands
Working with the Vermont conservation community, the CTA hopes to advances opportunities for conserving lands suitable for backcountry skiing and riding in Vermont.
Backcountry Education
Through strategic partnerships the CTA and our chapters hope to increase backcountry awareness and safety among Vermonters and visitors alike, by promoting a Vermont backcountry ethic and stewardship, and working to expand opportunities for backcountry-oriented education on all levels.
Increasing Backcountry Skiing & Riding Opportunities In Vermont
Working with Vermont land managers, landowners, and other partners the CTA and our Chapters will endeavor to expand development and conservation of terrain managed for backcountry skiers and riders of all abilities.
