At the recent CTA Annual Meeting in Killington, VT, we celebrated several longtime board members who were stepping down. While we were sad to see them go, it’s always good to have new folks join the party. We are excited to welcome Brian Mohr to the CTA Board of Directors. Brian is a familiar face in our community, due in part to his involvement in the Vermont Backcountry Alliance, and we are excited to have his perspective and experience on the board.
Brian claims he’s been skiing Vermont since he was in the womb (we didn’t check with his mom, but we’ll trust him on this), and he’s shaped his life and primary work as a writer and photographer around skiing adventures of all kinds. Working closely with his wife, Emily Johnson (a native Vermonter), Brian has documented skiing adventure from the southern Andes to the high Arctic, while helping wild lands conservation organizations draw attention to their projects with stories and images. Still, of all the places he has explored, Vermont remains his all-time favorite, without question.
In recent years, Brian’s work has turned toward celebrating the world class skiing and opportunities for adventure that we have here in the Northeast and Vermont, and toward helping to ensure that our great, great grandkids will be able to have many of the same experiences we have here today. Brian and Emily co-own Ember Photography and publish the Northeast-skiing blog, AdventureSkier.com They settled in Vermont together in 2001, and gave birth to their daughter, Maiana Snow, in February 2013. Since November 2013, Brian’s dedicated himself to helping the Vermont Backcountry Alliance take shape as a respected voice for Vermont’s broader backcountry skiing and riding community.
