Last week was the Vermont Corporate Cup & State Agency Race in Montpelier and the Catamount Trail Association staff were there representing both the Catamount Trail and the North Face Race To The Top Of Vermont! The Corporate Cup takes place every May, which just happens to overlap with the CTA Trail Fund campaign to raise money for summer and fall trail projects. This year, in order to add a little fun and keep things interesting, we made the bold promise to run the Corporate Cup 5k in our ski boots if we could reach 200 donations by race day.
Well… We’re still trying to figure out whether this was a win or a loss… But, we did reach our goal and we did run a full 5k in various types of ski boots!
Thank you to everyone that donated to the CTA Trail Fund so far! Taking care of 300+ miles of trail is no small task and without your help we just wouldn’t be able to keep up with it all.
That said… The CTA Trail Fund Campaign is not over. There is still plenty of time to make a donation, and while we have received over 200 donations at this time, we are still a long ways away from our ultimate goal which is 350 individual donations. So please consider making a donation to the CTA Trail Fund. The money goes to support the maintenance and improvements along the Catamount Trail, and this money also assists the work we are doing with our chapters and land managers in creating sustainable management & glading practices here in Vermont!
No amount is too small or too large. $5 or $500… every little bit helps and more money raised means more progress made.
PS: Every staff member set a new PR for a 5k in ski boots, and with a finishing time of 35:41 (we all finished together) our staff now hold the Corporate Cup Record for fastest individual finishing time in ski boots, and fastest team in ski boots 😉
