Have you ever been backcountry skiing? Would you want to try? There is something truly rewarding about traveling uphill under your own power, and the Catamount Trail Association, Outdoor Gear Exchange, and Bolton Valley want to help you experience what it feels like!
On Saturday, February 7th the Outdoor Gear Exchange and Catamount Trail Association will be leading short uphill tours under the Wilderness Lift so you too can find out what it’s like to earn your turns. Equipment will be provided by the Outdoor Gear Exchange and will include alpine touring, telemark, and splitboarding options from Black Diamond, Dynafit, Marker and Fritschi.
Catamount Trail Association representatives will then take you on a short uphill tour, discuss proper skinning technique, demonstrate how to transition from uphill into downhill mode, and help answer questions about the benefits of different backcountry setups.
The demo is free and will run from 10:00am until 2:00pm. No pre-registration is necessary. However, we do ask when participants show up that they allow ~30 minutes to be fitted and setup with appropriate equipment.
Thank you to Bolton Valley for allowing us to use their trails and to the Outdoor Gear Exchange for providing the gear!
