Word on the streets and slopes is that winter is at its best right now. Our Ski Cubs were out enjoying winter’s best this week in Huntington, Bolton, and Bennington. Given all the smiles I saw, I think that the Ski Cubs Program, too, is at its best right now. Here’s the recap:
- 30 kids got out on skis at Sleepy Hollow Inn, Ski & Bike Center. This was their fourth session, and it was amazing to see how far everyone has progressed. The temperatures were cold, but groups still made it out onto a variety of trails, from “Potato Farmer” to “Tina Turner”.
- 18 kids got out on skis at Bolton Valley Nordic Center on Saturday. Trail conditions were excellent, with ample powder on either side to ensnare the more adventuresome Ski Cubs. We saw good hill skiing and even a few jump turns. Our advanced group made it around the long and hilly Maple Loop.
- 17 kids went skiing with Dorothy Wallace-Senft down south in Bennington, VT. Ski Cubs South got its share of deep snow, and the kids enjoyed plowing through the drifts and skiing the hills.
All in all, the CTA took 65 kids out skiing this week.
All of this was made possible by our amazing team of Ski Cubs instructors who volunteer their time to come out and teach for our program. We couldn’t do the program without the support of Bolton Valley and Sleepy Hollow. Our friends at Rossignol, SkiRack, the Blueberry Hill Inn, and our many other funders generously support the Ski Cubs program year after year.
