Snow’s out, sun’s out! The 2014 Ski Cubs season is underway and what a season it is shaping up to be. This past Saturday we had our first session at Sleepy Hollow Ski and Bike Center in Huntington. Twenty-one participants and five adults from Hunt Middle School, Winooski Youth Programs, and Rock Point High School joined the four stellar volunteer instructors and me for a great morning of skiing, a bit of falling, and a lot of laughing.
The corduroy snow was in pristine condition and the sunshine warmed us all up as we played outside for the morning. We were able to flail around on the ground like dead bugs to practice getting ourselves untangled and up from a fall, use big pizzas and little pizzas to weave down a slalom course in Molly’s Meadow, and even play a few rounds of Sharks and Minnows, a Ski Cubs classic!
This coming Saturday we will again be headed to Sleepy Hollow for another adventurous Ski Cubs weekend. Come say hi to us on the Pond Loop and in Molly’s Meadow…who knows, with the skill level I saw this week we may even venture out to Potato Farmer! Want to join us, email me and let me know, we love visitors.
Keep up those snow dances! Happy trails!
