CTA’s volunteer led tours are a great way to discover new sections of the Catamount Trail, explore CTA and Chapter managed zones, and get to know all of the amazing terrain that Vermont has on tap. SDTs are FREE and open to both members and non-members. Before you reach out to a Tour Leader to signup please make yourself as familiar as possible with the trail section or zone. Review the appropriate Trail Section Map or Zone Map to help make sure your skill level and experience is adequate for the tour in question.
Registering for a Single-Day Tour
Before registering for any CTA tour please read the following information:
Skier Responsibilities
Recommended Equipment List
Skills and Fitness Guidelines
To sign-up for a tour:
- Please click the “REGISTER HERE” link for the specific tour(s) you would like to attend, then fill out the tour registration form. This form includes a CTA waiver that must be signed before submitting the form to the tour leader.
- Please register well in advance – do not wait until the night before the tour. The leader will provide information on the meeting location, meeting time, and other necessary details via email. All leaders are volunteers – please be patient with response time if you email them with questions.
Here are some additional guidelines to consider when participating on a CTA tour:
- Have the skills and physical conditioning necessary to complete the trip. If you’re unsure… Ask the tour leader.
- Bring sufficient food and water for a full day and extra layers.
- Stay with the group.
- When leaving the trail, tell someone or leave your pack.
- At the end of the tour check out with the leader before leaving, otherwise they may not know you’ve left and might go back out to look for you while you’re on your way home.
- Leave your dog at home unless specifically allowed by the tour leader.
2026 Schedule
March 14, 2026
Jay Peak Uphill Tour (Hosted by the CTA & Splitboard VT)
Skill Level: All Levels
Tour Type: AT/Tele/Splitboard. Climbing Skins & Helmet Required.
Tour Leader: Aaron Mills, aaron_mills@live.com
Tour Description: This is a no-drop event, and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged. The tour is FREE, but all participants will need to complete the Jay Peak uphill waiver. This can be done at Tramside guest services or online. Please review the Jay Peak Uphill Policy, and fill out the Jay Peak Uphill Waiver online ahead of the tour.
Ullr’s Dream Route (Tram Side): We will meet and start from the base of The Flyer Chairlift. From there we will follow the uphill route up Ullr’s Dream to the Sky Haus. We will transition at the top at the Sky Haus, from which there are descent options for every type of skier or splitboarder. You’re welcome to take any open trail you choose. We’ll meet back at the location where we started.
This tour is not technically difficult, however, due to the 2.6 mile uphill and over 2,000 feet of elevation gain it is a challenging climb to reach the Sky Haus. This typically takes around 3 hours round-trip, so please be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the journey. The weather can change quickly and drastically from the base to the Sky Haus, so plan accordingly with proper layers. There will be regular, quick stops along the way as needed, and you can choose when to stop and head down at any time.
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. Bear in mind that you may not reach the Sky Haus, but you’ll certainly have a great adventure with amazing views. Reaching the Sky Haus will depend on conditions. The Sky Haus is open seasonally, and may be open for food and beverages at the top.

We’ll do one lap of about an hour, then back to the cars, then as many more laps as folks want. Can be a “one-and-done” or a “my-legs-are-screaming” tour (or both!). For each lap, we will keep the group together. See the Dutch Hill website for details.
This tour is for skiers who are comfortable skiing downhill at resorts and have used their uphill equipment (Tele, AT, Split Board) and skins at least once. Stronger and more experienced skiers are also welcome. Please no boot climbing or snowshoes for this tour – skins required.
