Happy winter everyone! We wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that the CTA’s membership rates will be changing on May 1, 2018.
For our primary membership levels, the increase is akin to a stop at your favorite baker or barista on the way to the trail, not a new pair of backcountry skis. Also if you renew your membership for the 2018/19 season before May 1, 2018 you will receive our current rates and can save a few bucks… Renew Now.

The Catamount Trail and the CTA are the result of 34+ years of investment and work. The trail has gone from a rough line drawn on a map to a fully connected, 300-mile long end-to-end trail. The Catamount Trail is currently better maintained, more clearly marked, better protected, and more utilized than at any other time. The CTA is a stronger organization with more staff, more events, more volunteers, and more programming than ever before.
That said… There is still a lot of work to be done.
Here at the CTA we work day in and day out to connect people with the Catamount Trail and Vermont’s other backcountry experiences by promoting, protecting, and expanding winter trails and terrain. Our goal is to create a future where Vermont is home to a world-class network of locally-supported winter backcountry trails and terrain that is accessible to outdoor travelers of all abilities and means.
With the addition of our backcountry program and regional chapters we have expanded our mission as the sport of backcountry skiing has evolved, and we did this while continuing the work of maintaining and protecting the Catamount Trail. When looking ahead we see uncertain snow patterns and continued warming trends. Winters are changing and there is so much more we can and must do to sustain backcountry skiing and the organization in the future.
CTA’s membership rates have remained constant for the last 12 years, while the scope and volume of work has greatly expanded. A modest increase to membership rates will directly enhance our capacity to provide more and better backcountry experiences on and off the trail.
There are no season passes or trail fees generating revenue for the CTA. Rather, it’s our collective membership that allows us to further the CTA’s mission on behalf of all cross-country and backcountry skiers in Vermont. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 802-864-5794, or at info@catamounttrail.org.
For those who opted into our auto-renew program, you will receive an email prior to any membership transaction. Should you wish to update your settings in advance of this change you are encouraged to do so by logging into your account HERE.
We are so appreciative of all of our members and your support. Thank you… Thank you… THANK YOU!
And again… if you renew your membership for the 2018/19 season before May 1, 2018 you can save a little bit of money and renew at our current rates… Renew Now.
