Alrighty then… Last year when we updated the Catamount Trail website one of the things that we lost was the Community Forum. At the time we thought it was an acceptable loss as it wasn’t seeing a ton of use, and we were starting to put more effort into building our presence on Facebook and Meetup. However, it’s been just over a year now and we still consistently receive requests to bring the forum back.
Well, we are listening and I think we found a solution that everyone will be happy with. As of yesterday the Vermont Backcountry Community Forum is back online. It can be found by going to the Catamount Trail Website and looking under the Get Involved Tab. We are using the hosted platform Lefora in hopes that this will reduce our security risks and keep spam to a minimum.
Forums are great places to share information, trip reports, snow conditions, swap gear, find rides, and anonymously heckle others while hiding behind your keyboard (just kidding… or am I?) BUT, they only work if people actually use the forum. This forum is brand new, and no one wants to join a forum that’s inactive and doesn’t have any users. So, we’re asking everyone to please visit the forum, setup an account, and stop in from time to time. Also, please take a look at the categories we’ve setup and let us know if you think they are sufficient, or if you have suggestions for changes.
With your help this could be a great place for New England Backcountry Skiers to convene online and share information and help grow and strengthen our community.
Happy Winter!
