Community-Run Ski Cubs Programs

The CTA supports communities interested in starting a youth cross country ski program. Over the course of a year, the CTA lends out a kit of youth cross-country ski equipment and provides curriculum and administrative support. Our goal is to help communities move from a first year of supported programming to running a self-sufficient, multi-year program.

The equipment kit consists of 12 sets of cross-country ski equipment, additional boots and poles, and equipment bags. Our curriculum is designed to give community instructors games and activities that help teach fundamental ski skills. The curriculum contains six sequential 2-3 hour lesson plans, but can be rearranged easily to meet other needs.

In order to qualify for this initiative, your community must meet the following requirements:

  • Serve youth with limited resources and/or limited access to winter sports.
  • Ensure that no financial costs are passed on to youth participants or their families.

To be considered please email a letter describing your program goals and needs to the CTA Youth Program Coordinator at by October 15th
